Belgium and Egypt have advanced from Group G at the 2026 Men’s World Cup. New Zealand are eliminated, with Iran waiting to find out if they will advance as one of the top third placed teams.

Belgium’s tournament was off to an inauspicious start with two draws; their only goal was an own goal. However, Leandro TROSSARD scored twice in a 5-1 win over New Zealand to secure first place in the group.

The Pharaohs defeated New Zealand 3-1, which, combined with draws in their other matches, put them on five points, just behind Belgium on goal difference. Draws in all three matches may yet see Team Melli through to the round of 32.

Belgium will meet a third placed team in Seattle, WA, United States on WED 01 JUL 2026. Egypt will travel to Arlington, TX, United States for a matchup with Australia two days later. Should they advance, Iran would face Switzerland in Vancouver, BC, Canada on THU 02 JUL 2026.
