Brazil and Colombia have qualified for the 2023 Women’s World Cup after they won their semifinal matches at the CONMEBOL Women’s Copa América in Bucaramanga, Colombia, on MON 25-TUE 26 JUL 2022. The winner of the third place match between Argentina and Paraguay will also qualify, with the loser joining Chile in the playoffs.

Colombia defeated Argentina 1-0 in the first semifinal on MON 25 JUL 2022, with Linda CAICEDO finding the only goal of the match midway through the second half. Argentina were reduced to ten players in the 73rd minute after a second yellow card to Gabriela CHÁVEZ.

The following day, Brazil earned a 2-0 win over Paraguay, with Ary BORGES and BEATRIZ both scoring in the first thirty minutes. Brazil remain the only CONMEBOL side to have qualified for every Women’s World Cup.

In the fifth place match in Armenia on SUN 24 JUL 2022, Chile edged Venezuela 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Deyna CASTELLANOS equalised for Venezuela in stoppage time to force the shootout, but Chile were victorious and advance to the playoffs.

Colombia meet Brazil in the final match in Bucaramanga on SAT 30 JUL 2022. Both teams have already qualified for both the Women’s World Cup and the women’s football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Argentina and Paraguay, meanwhile, will take part in the third place match in Armenia on FRI 29 JUL 2022. The winner of that match also qualifies for Australia/​New Zealand 2023, and the loser has a second chance in the playoffs.
