Japan and Spain advanced from Group C at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, as Zambia and Costa Rica were eliminated.
The Nadeshiko secured their place in the round of 16 after only two matches, defeating Zambia 5-0 and Costa Rica 2-0. They completed a perfect group phase with a 4-0 win over Spain. Hinata MIYAZAWA leads the Golden Boot race with four goals.
Spain also confirmed advancement after two matches, cruising to a 3-0 win over Costa Rica and a 5-0 win over Zambia.
