CAF have confirmed that the Women’s African Nations Cup, which was to have kicked off on TUE 17 MAR 2026, has been rescheduled to SAT 25 JUL-SUN 16 AUG 2026. The tournament will decide CAF’s four automatic places at the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

The current conflict in the Middle East has had extensive impacts on international travel, raising doubts as to whether the teams would be able to travel to Morocco. Media reports had suggested that the tournament will also be relocated from Morocco, but CAF have made no announcement regarding a change in host nations.

This African Nations Cup is due to feature 16 teams, more than ever before. However, recent editions of the tournament have been affected by administrative problems. The 2020 edition was cancelled entirely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst the 2024 edition was not held until 2025.
