CAF second preliminary round complete

The second preliminary round of CAF qualifiers for the 2023 Women’s World Cup was played WED 16-WED 23 FEB 2022, completing the field for the Women’s African Nations Cup.
Nigeria remain in the running for a ninth consecutive Women’s World Cup appearance following a 3-0 aggregate win over Côte d’Ivoire. Ifeoma ONUMONU scored both goals in the first leg at home.
Senegal defeated Mali 3-2 on penalties to advance to the Nations Cup for the first time in ten years after the series ended 1-1 on aggregate.
Juliette NANA’s three goals led Burkina Faso to a 7-0 aggregate win over Guinea-Bissau, whilst Uganda advanced to the Nations Cup automatically after Kenya withdrew from their series.
The eleven winners in the second preliminary round join host nation Morocco at the Women’s African Nations Cup in JUL 2022. Four teams will qualify for the Women’s World Cup, and two will advance to the playoffs.
