The draw for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup was held at AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on THU 28 OCT 2021. The twelve teams were allocated into three groups of four teams each.
Host nation India will compete in Group A against China PR, Chinese Taipei, and Iran. Group B sees 2023 Women’s World Cup cohost Australia meet Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. In Group C, Asian title holders Japan face Korea Rep, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
The top five teams other than Australia will qualify for the Women’s World Cup, and the next two teams will advance to the playoffs. A series of repechage playoff matches will be held to determine the qualifying teams, depending upon Australia’s performance.
The Women’s Asian Cup opens on THU 20 JAN 2022, with the final to be played on SUN 06 FEB 2022.
