Megan RAPINOE of the United States swept the top honours at the 2019 Women’s World Cup, taking both the Golden Boot as the top goalscorer and the Golden Ball as the best player overall. She finished the tournament with six goals, including one in the US’s 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in the final.

Rapinoe’s dynamic play on the flanks earned her the Golden Ball. England defender Lucy BRONZE was awarded the Silver Ball, and the Bronze Ball went to the US’s Rose LAVELLE, who also scored in the final.

Rapinoe, teammate Alex MORGAN, and England’s Ellen WHITE all ended up on six goals. The Golden Boot, therefore, was decided on assists and minutes played. Rapinoe and Morgan had three assists each, White none, and Rapinoe compiled her totals in only 428 minutes compared to Morgan’s 490.

Dutch goalkeeper Sari VAN VEENENDAAL was awarded the Golden Glove, having been judged the best goalkeeper of the tournament. The Oranje conceded only five goals in seven matches, and several spectacular saves by van Veenendaal kept them in many of their matches.

Defender Giulia GWINN of Germany took home the Best Young Player award, and France won the Fair Play award for the second tournament running.
