Pots for final tournament draw confirmed
[SAT 08 DEC 2018 – 01:11:00 UTC]
FIFA have confirmed the pots to be used for the draw of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, as title holders the United States remain atop the FIFA rankings. They are joined in the first pot by host nation France, Germany, England, Canada, and Australia. The draw will be held in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, at 18:00 UTC on SAT 08 DEC 2018.
The draw will assign the 24 teams to the six groups. As tournament host, France have been assigned automatically to Group A. The other seeded nations will be placed in the other five groups.
The pots announced today are based on the latest FIFA rankings; each group will contain one team from each of the four pots. Nine UEFA teams are in the draw, so that three of the groups will contain two UEFA teams each, and the others will contain one each. Otherwise, teams from the same confederation cannot be drawn into the same group.
