46 UEFA nations in race for 2019
[THU 12 JAN 2017 – 07:18:36 UTC]

46 of UEFA’s 55 members have entered the UEFA qualifiers for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, with eight of them to join host nation France. The preliminary round begins on THU 06 APR 2017.

The sixteen lowest ranked teams are to take part in the preliminary round, which includes four groups of four teams each. All teams will play their group opponents once each, and the group winners, plus the top second placed team, will advance to the group phase.

Thirty teams receive a bye into the group phase; along with the five survivors of the preliminary round, they will play in seven groups of five teams each. Teams in each group play one another twice. The group winners qualify to France 2019, and the top four second placed teams take part in the playoffs with one more place at the Women’s World Cup available.
