• France 00-02 Spain: Spain took the lead midway through the first half on a penalty earned by Lamine YAMAL against Lucas DIGNE. Mikel OYARZABAL converted the spot kick. In the second half, a brilliant one-two with Dani OLMO put Pedro PORRO through on goal to make it 2-0. Yamal believed he had added a third shortly after, but it was disallowed for offside. RODRI held down a Spanish midfield that controlled play and kept les Bleus without a shot on target until the 81st minute. Spain return to the final for the second time, whilst France’s ambitions of a third straight final have come to an end.
• England 01-02 Argentina: In the two teams’ first meeting at a Men’s World Cup since 2002, the first half saw 19 fouls but only three shot attempts, none on target. Ten minutes into the second half, Anthony GORDON finished a cross from Morgan ROGERS to give England the lead. Manager Thomas TUCHEL then made several defensive substitutions, including replacing Gordon with Ezri KONSA, as the Albiceleste began to pepper Jordan PICKFORD’s goal. Argentina broke through in the 85th minute with a long distance effort from Enzo FERNÁNDEZ. Then in stoppage time, Alexis MAC ALLISTER struck the post. The rebound fell to Lionel MESSI, whose right footed cross found Lautaro MARTÍNEZ, who headed past Pickford to place Argentina in their third final in the last four Men’s World Cups.
