CAF have announced that the group phase of qualifiers for the 2022 Men’s World Cup will begin in JUN 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The round was to begin in OCT 2020.

CAF’s newly confirmed plan for resuming international matches begins with the qualifiers for the 2021 Men’s African Nations Cup that were originally to have been played JUN-SEP 2020. These matches will now be played in NOV 2020 and MAR 2021.

The group phase of the Men’s World Cup qualifiers will begin with two matchdays during the JUN 2021 international break. The next two matchdays will be played in SEP 2021, and the last two in OCT 2021. The playoffs remain scheduled for NOV 2021.
