CONCACAF have confirmed that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first round of qualifiers for the 2022 Men’s World Cup will not be played in OCT-NOV 2020 as scheduled. The qualifiers will now start no earlier than MAR 2021.
30 of CONCACAF’s 35 FIFA member nations were to have begun play in the first round, in six groups of five teams each. The decision also affects the second round, made up of three playoffs between first round group winners.
