The draw for the CAF group phase of qualifiers for the 2022 Men’s World Cup was held on TUE 21 JAN 2020 in Cairo, Egypt.

African Nations Cup holders Algeria face Burkina Faso and Niger in Group A. In Group J, Congo DR have a rematch against the squad that knocked them out of the 2019 African Nations Cup, Madagascar. Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire, who both missed out on qualifying for the 2018 Men’s World Cup, meet one another in Group D.

The teams in each group will play one another twice, from OCT 2020 to OCT 2021. The first placed teams advance to the playoffs, where five places at Qatar 2022 will be on offer.
