The draw for the CONMEBOL group phase of 2022 Men’s World Cup qualifiers was held in Luque, Paraguay, on TUE 17 DEC 2019. As a result, the order of matches in the group phase was set.

A placeholder match schedule was drawn up in advance, with the draw serving merely to assign each team to the ten possible positions. The first day of the phase, THU 26 MAR 2020, will see Argentina-Ecuador, Brazil-Bolivia, Colombia-Venezuela, Paraguay-Peru, and Uruguay-Chile. The reverse fixtures will be played on the last day, TUE 16 NOV 2021.

The top four teams in the group will qualify for Qatar 2022, and the fifth placed team will advance to the playoffs.
