The Union of European Football Associations [UEFA] has 55 FIFA members. 53 have entered the qualifiers for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. San Marino did not enter, whilst Russia are disqualified from the competition due to their suspension from FIFA and UEFA following the invasion and ongoing war in Ukraine.

11 UEFA teams qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, and one advances to the interconfederation playoffs. There are two phases of play prior to the playoffs.

LEAGUE PHASE

• Three leagues [based on results of 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League]
  • League A: 16 teams
    • Four groups: 4 teams each
  • League B: 16 teams
    • Four groups: 4 teams each
  • League C: 21 teams
    • Six groups: three with 4 teams each, three with 3 teams each
• Double round robin [home and away]
• 4 teams qualify for final tournament:
  • First placed team in each League A group
• 32 teams advance to UEFA playoffs:
  • Remaining 12 teams in League A
  • Top 3 teams in each League B group
  • First placed team in each League C group
  • Top two second placed teams in League C
• Remaining 17 teams eliminated

UEFA PLAYOFFS

• 32 teams
• Two rounds of playoffs:
  • First round: Sixteen pairs
  • Second round: Eight pairs
• Two legs [home and away]
  • Winner decided on aggregate goals [extra time and penalties if needed; away goals tiebreaker does not apply]
• 7 teams qualify for final tournament:
  • Top 7 second round winners by league phase ranking
• 1 team advances to interconfederation playoffs:
  • Remaining second round winner
• Remaining 24 teams eliminated
