Japan have won the AFC Women’s Asian Cup with a 1-0 win over Australia in the final. Both teams, along with China PR, Korea DPR, Korea Rep, and the Philippines, have qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan advance to the playoffs.

Japan soared to their third Asian Cup with a comprehensive performance, conceding only one goal in six matches. Riko UEKI’s six goals earned her the Golden Boot. Australia, China PR, and Korea Rep also qualified by reaching the semifinal phase.

In the repechage playoffs, the Philippines defeated Uzbekistan 2-0 to earn a place at their second consecutive Women’s World Cup. HONG Song Ok’s hat trick led Korea DPR to a 4-0 win over Chinese Taipei, ensuring that Korea DPR would return to the World Cup for the first time in sixteen years.

This marks the last occasion when the Asian Cup will decide qualification for the Women’s World Cup. Following the next Women’s Asian Cup in 2029, the AFC will hold a standalone qualifying tournament for the 2031 Women’s World Cup, giving women’s teams in Asia more opportunities for competitive matches.
