Iran have advanced to the Women’s Asian Cup with a 2-1 win over Jordan in the AFC preliminary round on SAT 19 JUL 2025. The result completes the field of twelve teams for the Asian Cup.

Matches in group A were delayed two weeks due to the security situation in the Middle East. When the group got underway in AmmanChina PR, favoured Iran stumbled to a 3-1 defeat against Lebanon, whilst Jordan won their first three matches. On the last day of matches, goals from Sarah DIDAR and Negin ZANDI earned victory for Iran and first place on the head to head tiebreaker.

Iran join Australia, Bangladesh, China PR, Chinese Taipei, India, Japan, Korea DPR, Korea Rep, Philippines, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam at the Women’s Asian Cup, to be played in Australia in MAR 2026. Six teams will qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, and two will advance to the interconfederation playoffs.
