The AFC have confirmed that a record 38 teams have entered the qualifiers for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. For the 34 playing in the preliminary round, the draw will be held on THU 27 MAR 2025, placing them into eight groups of either four or five teams.

The teams have been placed in five pots based on the FIFA rankings of MAR 2025. Each group will contain one team from each of the first four pots. Two of the groups will also contain one of the teams from the fifth pot, the lowest in the rankings. Cambodia, Indonesia, Jordan, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam will each host one of the groups; therefore, each group will contain only one of these teams.

The preliminary round will be played in JUN-JUL 2025, with each team playing each group opponent once. The first placed team in each group will advance to the Women’s Asian Cup, joining China PR, Korea Rep, Japan, and host nation Australia. The Women’s Asian Cup will decide the AFC’s six places at Brazil 2027, plus two playoff places.
