CAF have confirmed that the preliminary rounds of qualifiers for the 2023 Women’s World Cup have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first preliminary round will now be played in OCT 2021 instead of JUN 2021.
The first preliminary round, involving 44 teams, will be played MON 18-TUE 26 OCT 2021. The 22 winners advance to the second preliminary round, which has been rescheduled to MON 14-WED 23 FEB 2022.
The Women’s African Nations Cup remains scheduled for SAT 02-SAT 23 JUL 2022, involving host nation Morocco and the 11 winners from the second preliminary round. Four teams will qualify for Australia/New Zealand 2023, and two other teams will advance to the playoffs.
