The quarterfinals of the 2019 Women’s World Cup concluded on SAT 29 JUN 2019 with two all-European matchups.

• Italy 00-02 Netherlands: After Italy had the better of the first half, the Oranje took control in the second. Headed goals by Vivianne MIEDEMA and Stefanie VAN DER GRAGT led the Netherlands to the semifinals in only their second ever Women’s World Cup appearance.
• Germany 01-02 Sweden: Lina MAGULL’s half volley in the 16th minute gave Germany the lead, but Sweden equalised six minutes later on a breakaway by Sofia JAKOBSSON. Early in the second half, a save by Germany goalkeeper Almuth SCHULT rebounded to the feet of Stina BLACKSTENIUS, who was only too pleased to slot it home. The Blågult then held on to secure their fourth trip to the semifinals. The Netherlands will be their opponent in Lyon on Wednesday.
