At the CAF Women’s African Nations Cup on FRI 23 NOV 2018, Group A came to a conclusion, as did the host nation’s hopes of qualifying for the Women’s World Cup.

• Cameroon 01-01 Ghana: Needing a win to maximise their hopes of advancing, the Black Queens took the lead on a 30th minute free kick by Portia BOAKYE, but just before the interval, Christine MANIE equalised from the spot. The point secured first place in Group A for Cameroon...
• Algeria 02-03 Mali: ...and opened the door for Mali. However, Algeria went in front in the 38th minute on a header by Lydia BELKACEMI. Fatoumata DIARRA scored the equaliser for Mali in the 58th, but five minutes later, Algeria were awarded a penalty, and Imene MERROUCHE stepped up to put her side ahead again. With the other match level, Mali needed a draw, and Aissatou DIADHIOU’s strike from distance in the 83rd minute gave them the crucial point. A stoppage time penalty by Diarra made sure of Mali’s place in the last four, their first time reaching the elimination phase of the Women’s African Nations Cup.
