Around the UEFA group phase on SUN 10-TUE 12 JUN 2018, a number of teams had their last opportunity to make their cases before the final week of group matches.

• Iceland 02-00 Slovenia: A second half brace from Glódís VIGGÓSDÓTTIR lifted Iceland to the top of Group 5, one point clear of idle Germany. Germany travel to Reykjavík for a crucial match in September.
• Poland 02-03 Scotland: Dżesika JASZEK put the home side ahead in the sixth minute, and they added a second through an own goal midway through the second half. But Scotland stormed back with three goals in the last thirteen minutes, including a 90th minute winner from Lisa EVANS. The result ends Poland’s hopes of a first Women’s World Cup appearance and leaves Scotland within touching distance of Group 2 leaders Switzerland.
• Norway 01-00 Ireland Rep: Caroline GRAHAM HANSEN scored the game’s only goal from the spot in the first half, and Ireland Rep could not find the equaliser they needed to remain alive. Norway are four points behind the Netherlands in Group 3, although the Dutch have only one match remaining, a visit to Norway in September.
• Ukraine 01-00 Sweden: Sweden were handed their first loss in a Women’s World Cup qualifier in sixteen years thanks to Daryna APANASCHENKO’s goal late in the first half. Ukraine stay alive in Group 4 with the result, but the same two teams meet again in Göteborg in August.
• Wales 03-00 Russia: Two goals from Kayleigh GREEN, including a chip over the head of Russian keeper Elvira TODUA, led Wales back to the top of Group 1. A win in their last match, at home to England in August, will be enough to send Wales to their first Women’s World Cup.
