The Korea Rep defeated the Philippines 5-0 on MON 16 APR 2018 in the fifth place match of the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. With the result, Korea Rep qualify for their third Women’s World Cup.

Korean defender JANG Sel Gi opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a blistering shot from just inside the area. LEE Min A added a second in first half stoppage time, and the Taegeuk Nangja did not look back. In the 55th minute, LIM Seon Joo nudged home a free kick by JEON Ga Eul for Korea Rep’s third goal. Two more by captain CHO So Hyun completed the scoring.

Korea Rep will make their third Women’s World Cup appearance, having reached the group phase in 2003 and the round of sixteen in 2015. The Philippines exit the tournament having reached their first Women’s Asian Cup since 2003, and having come within 90 minutes of their first Women’s World Cup qualification.
