The pot allocations for the 2022 Men’s World Cup have been confirmed with the release of the FIFA rankings on THU 31 MAR 2022. Along with host nation Qatar, Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain, and Portugal are the top seeds. The groups will be drawn on FRI 01 APR 2022 in Doha, Qatar.

Each pot contains eight teams, with teams placed into the pots in decreasing order of their places in the FIFA rankings. Qatar, as host nation, are assigned to pot 1 automatically and will be placed into Group A. In addition, the three places at the tournament still to be confirmed have been assigned to pot 4 as placeholders.

One team from each pot will be assigned to each group. Each group must contain either one or two UEFA teams, and may not contain more than one team from any other confederation.

The draw will be held at 16:00 UTC [19:00 AST] on FRI 01 APR 2022 in Doha, Qatar.
