FIFA have confirmed the pots for the draw for the AFC final round of qualifiers for the 2022 Men’s World Cup. Japan and Iran are the top seeds for the draw, to be held on THU 01 JUL 2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The twelve teams are divided into six pots, each containing two teams. The pots are based on the FIFA ranking updated on FRI 18 JUN 2021.

During the draw, the teams will be allocated to two groups. Each group will contain one team from each pot.

The final round begins on THU 02 SEP 2021 and lasts until TUE 29 MAR 2022. Each team will play the other five teams in its group twice. The top two teams in each group qualify for the Men’s World Cup, and the third placed teams will play one another in a single match playoff. The winner of that match will face a team from another confederation in the intercontinental playoffs, where the winner qualifies for Qatar 2022.
