The draw for the AFC final round of qualifiers for the 2022 Men’s World Cup was held on THU 01 JUL 2021 at AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The twelve teams were drawn into two groups.
Iran, Korea Rep, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon were placed in Group A. Group B contains Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China PR, Oman, and Vietnam.
Teams in each group play one another twice starting on THU 02 SEP 2021. The round completes on TUE 29 MAR 2022, at which point the top two teams in each group qualify for Qatar 2022. The third placed teams meet in a single match playoff, with the winner advancing to the intercontinental playoffs for one last shot at qualifying.
