The interconfederation playoffs will feature ten teams; three of them will qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. There are two phases of play.

FIRST ROUND

• 6 teams:
  • Losers AFC Women’s Asian Cup repechage playoffs
  • Two teams from CAF Women’s African Nations Cup
  • Lower in FIFA rankings of third and fourth placed teams in CONMEBOL group phase
  • Loser OFC final match
  • Byes:
    • Lowest ranked winner in UEFA playoffs
    • Two teams from CONCACAF W Championship
    • Higher in FIFA rankings of third and fourth placed teams in CONMEBOL group phase
• Two rounds of playoffs:
  • Semifinals: Two matches [two highest teams in FIFA rankings receive bye]
  • Finals: Two matches
• Single matches [extra time and penalties if needed]
• 2 teams advance to second round:
  • Winners of final matches
• Remaining 4 teams eliminated

SECOND ROUND

• 6 teams
• Three matches
• Single matches [extra time and penalties if needed]
• 3 teams qualify for final tournament:
  • Winners of each match
• Remaining 3 teams eliminated
