• Panama 00-05 United States: After coming in as a substitute in the US’s first match, Carli LLOYD started against Panama and led the way with a hat trick. She might have had more were it not for the heroics of Yenith BAILEY in Panama’s goal; the seventeen year old made a number of astounding saves to keep the Cañaleras’ goal difference manageable.
• Mexico 04-01 Trinidad-Tobago: A penalty by Jonelle CATO levelled the scores at 1-1 in the 50th minute after Charlyn CORRAL had put Mexico ahead in the first half. But just minutes after the equaliser, La Tri were in front again through Katie JOHNSON, and Corral added another shortly thereafter. Mexico must now defeat Panama on Wednesday to reach the elimination phase; otherwise it will be the Cañaleras who join the US in the last four.
