At the AFC Women’s Asian Cup on FRI 13 APR 2018, a draw between Australia and Japan was enough to send both to the Women’s World Cup.

• Korea Rep 04-00 Vietnam: After opening their Group B play with two goalless draws, Korea Rep found their way onto the scoresheet, led by a brace from LEE Mi Na.
• Japan 01-01 Australia: When Mizuho SAKAGUCHI put Japan ahead in the 63rd minute, the Nadeshiko had eyes on top spot in the group. But four minutes from time, Samantha KERR capitalised on a rebound from Japan keeper Ayaka YAMASHITA. The teams then played out the remainder, knowing that the result was sufficient to send both of them to France. Though they are tied with both Australia and Japan on five points, Korea Rep are consigned to third on the head to head goals scored tiebreaker, and they will take on the Philippines on Monday for the AFC’s final place at the Women’s World Cup.
