GOOBNET: THE OFFSIDE TRAP OF WEBSITES

Day 8 recap
[SUN 14 JUN 2015 – 06:03:13 UTC]

All four Women’s World Cup matches played on SAT 13 JUN 2015 involved a Latin American side, one of which was outrageously successful.

  • France 00-02 Colombia: Les Bleues were amongst the title contenders going in, but escaping from Group F won’t be so easy. An inspired Colombian side took the lead on an 18th minute goal from Lady ANDRADE and then held on with the help of goalkeeper Sandra SEPULVEDA. It is now the Cafeteras, who had never before won at the Women’s World Cup, atop the group.
  • Brazil 01-00 Spain: The Brazilian squad locked up first place in Group E with a match to spare. ANDRESSA ALVES scored the lone goal shortly before halftime.
  • England 02-01 Mexico: This match was goalless after 70 minutes, but shortly afterward, Fran KIRBY put England ahead. Karen CARNEY headed in a second, and despite a stoppage time goal from Fabiola IBARRA, Mexico could not find the vital equaliser. They will need to defeat France on Wednesday to have any hope of a maiden voyage to the elimination phase.
  • Korea Rep 02-02 Costa Rica: Karla VILLALOBOS’s 89th minute goal secured a draw for the Ticas, second in Group E with two points. The result sets up a do or die battle between Korea Rep and Spain on Wednesday.
