A-B, Bermuda, Martinique advance to Caribbean tournament
[FRI 30 MAY 2014 – 05:19:21 UTC]

Antigua-Barbuda, Bermuda, and Martinique have won their respective groups in the Caribbean first preliminary round and will compete at the Women’s Caribbean Cup.

Antigua-Barbuda finished Group 1 on a perfect nine points, winning all three matches by 1-0 margins. Martinique played Puerto Rico to a draw on the last matchday but won Group 2 on goal difference. And in Group 3, late entrants Bermuda pipped St Kitts-Nevis to the top with a 3-1 win on the last day.

The three teams join Trinidad-Tobago at the Women’s Caribbean Cup, plus four others to be decided. The top three at this tournament advance to the CONCACAF Women’s Championship, with three and one half places at the Women’s World Cup available. Martinique is competing in the tournament but is not a member of FIFA and is therefore ineligible to qualify.
