The two Central American sides at the CONCACAF Women’s Championship will be Costa Rica and Guatemala after they won their respective groups at the Central American qualifying tournament held in Guatemala City.

Guatemala won all three matches in Group 1 but were made to work for it, defeating Panama and Honduras by one goal each. Conversely, the Ticas were not threatened by their Group 2 opponents, defeating El Salvador 4-0 and Nicaragua 3-0.

Both teams’ hopes of a first appearance at the Women’s World Cup are very much alive, with three and one half places to play for.
