[THU 21 MAR 2013 – 01:48:30 UTC]
The five Asian teams at the 2015 Women’s World Cup are to be decided at the Women’s Asian Cup, with a possible 20 nations to choose from.
The AFC qualifying process opens with the preliminary round in MAY-JUN 2013, in which four group winners will advance to the final tournament. They join Australia, China PR, Japan, and Korea Rep, who advance automatically. The Women’s Asian Cup will be held in MAY 2014, with the venue to be decided. The top five are to qualify for Canada 2015.
The tournament is held this time without Korea DPR, who are banned as a result of the doping scandal at the 2011 Women’s World Cup that saw five players and one team doctor suspended.
