FIFA’s disciplinary committee has disqualified Macao from the AFC preliminary round of qualifiers for the 2022 Men’s World Cup. Macao refused to travel to Sri Lanka for the second leg of their series.

Citing security concerns, Macao did not travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where the second leg of preliminary round series 2 was to have been played on TUE 11 JUN 2019. FIFA has now decided to award the match to Sri Lanka as a 3-0 forfeiture. Sri Lanka, therefore, advance to the first group phase. The draw for the first group phase is to be held on WED 17 JUL 2019.
