Squads for Russia 2018 announced
[WED 06 JUN 2018 – 03:13:01 UTC]
The complete list of players for the 2018 Men’s World Cup has been announced by FIFA. The 23 players named to each team’s squad will take part in the tournament starting on THU 14 JUN 2018.
The squad lists comprise a total of 736 players. 130 of them, more than any other nation, represent clubs in England, including that country’s entire squad.
Egypt goalkeeper Essam EL-HADARY, at 45, is the oldest player named to the tournament. France forward Kylian MBAPPÉ, at 19, is the youngest. Although no players born in this century are on the squad lists, seven players are currently nineteen. One of them, Panama midfielder José Luis RODRÍGUEZ, celebrates his twentieth birthday the day after his team’s opening match against Belgium.
There are two players in particular – Brazil’s DANILO and Japan’s Yoshinori MUTŌ – who will be hoping to go to work on their birthdays. They turn 27 and 26, respectively, on the day of the final match.
In the event of an injury, a player may be replaced on his team’s squad up to 24 hours before the team’s first match kicks off.
