Barbados disqualified for ineligible player; Aruba reinstated
[TUE 30 JUN 2015 – 19:30:51 UTC]
Barbados have been disqualified from the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2018 Men’s World Cup after fielding an ineligible player in the second leg of their second preliminary round series against Aruba. Aruba therefore advance to the third preliminary round instead.
Barbados midfielder Hadan HOLLIGAN played in the second leg on SUN 14 JUN 2015 and scored the only goal of the match, giving his side a 3-0 aggregate win. However, in the first leg, he had received his second yellow card of the qualifiers. Because Holligan failed to serve his one match suspension, the FIFA disciplinary committee awarded the match by forfeiture to Aruba.
