The Women’s Copa América has begun in Ecuador, and Venezuela and the host nation were victorious on the first day. Venezuela defeated Uruguay 3-1, followed by a 1-0 win for Ecuador over Peru. The remaining team in Group A, Colombia, was idle. The tournament will decide two and one half places for CONMEBOL at the 2015 Women’s World Cup.
