• Thailand 00-04 Germany: Germany, meanwhile, secured top spot in Group B as Lena PETERMANN scored twice in a three minute span. Thailand are third, but with only three points and a goal difference of -7, they are unlikely to stick around for the elimination phase.
• China PR 02-02 New Zealand: China PR advance as the second placed side in Group A, with a penalty by WANG Lisi and a header by WANG Shanshan. The Ferns are eliminated despite impressive draws against Canada and China PR.
• Netherlands 01-01 Canada: The Dutch were content to withstand the Canadian pressure and wait for counterattacking opportunities, an approach that paid dividends in the 87th minute when Kirsten VAN DE VEN equalised. Canada, who took the lead early on Ashley LAWRENCE’s first international goal, still end up first in Group A. The Netherlands, in third on four points and a goal difference of zero, are likely to reach the round of sixteen as well.
