T-T, Martinique round out CONCACAF field
[SUN 24 AUG 2014 – 16:26:32 UTC]
Trinidad-Tobago and Martinique have advanced to the CONCACAF Women’s Championship with two wins each in Group B of the Women’s Caribbean Cup.
Both sides defeated their other opponents in the group, Antigua-Barbuda and St Kitts-Nevis, with clean sheets in all matches. Tasha ST LOUIS of the Soca Princesses scored four goals, and teammate Mariah SHADE added three more.
T-T will next face Martinique for first place in the group, but both are already assured of a place at the CONCACAF Women’s Championship. They are joined by the host United States, automatic qualifier Mexico, Central American qualifiers Costa Rica and Guatemala, and Group A leaders Haiti and Jamaica. As they are not a FIFA member, Martinique cannot qualify for the Women’s World Cup, leaving seven teams to compete for three and one half places at Canada 2015.
