• Argentina 03-00 Croatia: Julián ÁLVAREZ and Lionel MESSI were the stars in a convincing victory for the Albiceleste. Shortly after the half hour mark, Álvarez was brought down in the area by Croatian keeper Dominik LIVAKOVIĆ for a penalty that Messi converted. It was the eleventh goal in Messi’s Men’s World Cup career, surpassing Gabriel BATISTUTA for Argentina’s all time lead. Five minutes later, Álvarez dashed half the length of the pitch, evading defenders Josip JURANOVIĆ and Borna SOSA along the way, before slotting home out of Livaković’s reach. Álvarez removed all doubt with his second goal in the 69th minute, finishing off an assist from Messi. The result confirms Argentina’s sixth appearance in the final match.
• France 02-00 Morocco: Morocco were greeted by thunderous cheers upon taking the pitch, but the partisan crowd were silenced just five minutes in. A scramble in the area saw the ball bounce favourably for Theo HERNANDEZ, who beat Moroccan keeper BONO from a tight angle to give les Bleus the lead. Late in the first half, Hugo LLORIS’s fingertips deflected a Jawad EL YAMIQ overhead kick off the outside of the post. In the 79th minute, however, Randal KOLO MUANI put the match away when he turned home a deflection of Kylian MBAPPÉ’s shot. France earn the opportunity to defend their title in the final against Argentina, whilst the Atlas Lions’ dream run wraps up with a chance to take third place against Croatia.
