The group phase of the OFC Men’s Nations Cup has concluded, and the six teams to advance to the final round of Men’s World Cup qualifiers are known. Host Papua New Guinea, with a convincing victory on the last day, join Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, the Solomon Is, and Tahiti in the final round.

Vanuatu earned their first points of the competition with a 3-2 win over Fiji on the final day of Group B, but their -5 goal difference consigned them to last place after the All Whites could only put a single goal past the Solomon Is.

In Group A, Raymond GUNEMBA’s hat trick led PNG to an 8-0 victory over Samoa. Tahiti and New Caledonia played to a 1-1 draw in the late match, Teaonui TEHAU equalising in stoppage time for Tahiti. The Iron Warriors were eliminated from the Nations Cup on goal difference but had already secured their place in the final round.

The Nations Cup resumes on WED 08 JUN 2016 with semifinal matchups New Zealand-New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea-Solomon Is. The winners take part in the final on SAT 11 JUN 2016.
