• Central African Rep 02-00 Botswana: The Central Africans had never won a Men’s World Cup qualifier – and had not even played one since 2000 – but still pulled off the shocker of the weekend. Kethevoama FOXI scored both goals to claim top spot in Group A after South Africa and Ethiopia played to a draw.
• Tunisia 03-01 Equatorial Guinea: The visitors were in front at the interval, but Tunisia recovered with a strong second half and are now atop Group B.
• Sudan 02-00 Zambia: The newly crowned African champions fell in a stunner that puts Sudan into a tie with Ghana for first place in Group D.
• Benin 01-00 Mali: Razak OMOTOYOSSI scored an early goal in Cotonou, leading the Squirrels to a tie for first in Group H, just behind Algeria on goal difference.
• Togo 01-01 Libya: Kalen DAMESSI put the Hawks up in the eighth minute, but the visitors promptly levelled. Ahmed ZOUAY scored in the fifteenth, and there was no further scoring as the teams now find themselves behind Cameroon in Group I.
