FIFA has confirmed the distribution by confederation of the 24 teams to compete at the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

The most significant winner is CONCACAF, who have received 4½ berths in total including host nation Canada, compared to the 2½ granted for Germany 2011. The AFC will be represented by five teams rather than the three, including champion Japan, who competed last time, as UEFA’s allocation grows from five [including 2011 host Germany] to eight. There will be one intercontinental playoff, between the fourth team in CONCACAF and the third in CONMEBOL.
