• Nigeria 01-00 Zambia: Both sides had chances throughout, but it was the Super Eagles who emerged victorious thanks to a second half goal by Alex IWOBI. Nigeria qualify for the sixth time, taking top spot in Group B with one match remaining.
• Guinea 01-04 Tunisia: Three goals from Youssef MSAKNI helped keep Tunisia in first place in Group A. A point at home against Libya next month will secure qualification for the Carthage Eagles.
• Cabo Verde 00-02 Senegal: A valiant effort from the Blue Sharks kept the match goalless until the 83rd minute. But after that point, Diafra SAKHO and then Cheikh NDOYE broke through, and Senegal reclaimed the lead in Group D. They have two matches against South Africa to play next month; two points will be sufficient to earn their ticket to Russia.
• Morocco 03-00 Gabon: The Atlas Lions take over first place in Group C, as Khalid BOUTAIB scored all three goals. Morocco visit Côte d’Ivoire next month needing a draw to qualify.
• Egypt 02-01 Congo: Mohamed SALAH put the Pharaohs ahead midway through the second half, only to see Arnold BOUKA-MOUTOU equalise in the 88th minute. However, deep into stoppage time, Beranger ITOUA brought down Egypt’s TRÉZÉGUET in the area. Salah calmly slotted home the penalty, sparking massive celebrations in Borg El Arab as Egypt take the Group E title and qualify for their first Men’s World Cup since 1990.
