The qualifier between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia on TUE 08 SEP 2015, abandoned in the 88th minute, has been awarded by forfeiture to Saudi Arabia.

The FIFA disciplinary committee awarded the AFC first phase group A match as a 3-0 win to the Saudi squad due to the behaviour of Malaysian supporters, who threw smoke bombs and flares onto the pitch. Play was halted late on after the disturbances, with Saudi Arabia leading 2-1.

In addition to the forfeiture, the Football Association of Malaysia have been fined, and their last home match in the group, against the United Arab Emirates on TUE 17 NOV 2015, must be played behind closed doors.
