NZ’s Durante ruled eligible; disciplinary case thrown out
[FRI 13 SEP 2013 – 01:07:28 UTC]

FIFA have dismissed a case against New Zealand, who had been accused of fielding an ineligible player. Defender Andrew DURANTE was ruled to have been eligible to represent the All Whites when he played in the TUE 26 MAR 2013 OFC final round match against the Solomon Is.

Durante was born in Australia but was awarded New Zealand citizenship on TUE 05 MAR 2013. FIFA’s investigation has confirmed that Durante was eligible to compete for his new country. New Zealand can now turn their attention toward the CONCACAF/OFC playoff against the fourth placed team in the CONCACAF final round.
