Ineligible Togo player forces forfeiture
[FRI 05 JUL 2013 – 19:49:30 UTC]

Togo’s 2-0 win over Cameroon in CAF Group I on SUN 09 JUN 2013 has been annulled, and the match awarded to Cameroon by a 3-0 forfeit, after FIFA ruled that one of Togo’s players was ineligible to compete.

Togo are being penalised for Alaixys ROMAO’s failure to serve his suspension for yellow card accumulation. The midfielder was booked against Libya on SUN 03 JUN 2012 and against Cameroon on SAT 23 MAR 2013.

Cameroon’s revised total is now ten points, lifting them to the top of the group, one point over Libya. The two teams face off in Cameroon in September with the winner advancing, but now a draw would put the Indomitable Lions into the playoffs rather than the Knights.
