• Romania 01-04 Netherlands: The Dutch kept up their perfect record in Group D and ended Romania’s. Jeremain LENS and Bruno MARTINS INDI had the visitors up 2-0 thirty minutes in.
• Ukraine 00-01 Montenegro: Dejan DAMJANOVIĆ was the goalscorer as Ukraine were shocked at home...
• Poland 01-01 England: ...whilst the English remain on top of Group H with the point, in a match postponed a day due to heavy rains that flooded the Warsaw pitch.
• Slovakia 00-01 Greece: Dimitris SALPINGIDIS scored the second half winner, but Michal BREZNANÍK hit the post on a late attempt at an equaliser. Greece remain tied with Bosnia-Herzegovina atop Group G.
• Italy 03-01 Denmark: Pablo OSVALDO was sent off for violent conduct at the start of the second half, but the Azzurri’s lead, then 2-1, increased eight minutes later on Mario BALOTELLI’s strike. Italy extend their Group B lead to four points.
• Germany 04-04 Sweden: The party was on in Berlin as Germany were up 4-0 early in the second half on the back of two goals by Miroslav KLOSE. But three Swedish goals in a fifteen minute span turned the tide, and in stoppage time, Rasmus ELM scored the shock equaliser. The result keeps Sweden within touching distance of Germany in Group C.
• Albania 01-00 Slovenia: Odise ROSHI scored in the first half to lead the Eagles to within a point of second placed Norway. Slovenia, who qualified for two of the last three Men’s World Cups, are tied for last in Group E.
• Spain 01-01 France: Sergio RAMOS’s first half goal had the Furia Roja taking control of Group I. But Olivier GIROUD headed home Franck RIBÉRY’s cross deep into stoppage time, spoiling another party and keeping the two teams on level pegging.
• Portugal 01-01 Northern Ireland: Portugal celebrated CRISTIANO RONALDO’s 100th cap, but again the party was spoiled. This time, though, it was the visitors who struck first. Hélder POSTIGA scored the 80th minute equaliser to neutralise Niall MCGINN’s opener. The Portuguese are tied for second in Group F, but trail Russia by five points.
