» Czech Rep 00-02 Netherlands: Rafael VAN DER VAART and Barry OPDAM were the goalscorers as the Netherlands made certain of their World Cup berth. The Czechs must defeat Finland or else Romania will take the Group 1 playoff place.
» Switzerland 01-01 France: The Swiss remained in the Group 4 picture with a draw against les Bleus, but they must face off against Ireland Rep on the last day. If France cannot win against Cyprus, the Switzerland-Ireland Rep winner qualifies. To further complicate matters, Israel, who are idle on the last day, can get to the playoffs if France lose or if both matches are draws.
» Belgium 00-02 Spain: Fernando TORRES's rapid fire double put Spain into second in Group 7 and ended Belgium's hopes. Serbia-Montenegro will win the group with a win against Bosnia-Herzegovina, or a draw if Spain can't defeat San Marino by four goals. Bosnia-Herz finish first if they win and Spain don't.
» Portugal 02-01 Liechtenstein: Benjamin FISCHER gave the home team a scare in the first half, but PAULETA and NUNO GOMES scored in the second half to win Group 3. For the playoff place, Slovakia and Russia meet each other. Russia advance with a win; otherwise it will be Slovakia.
